Mazur named publisher for the Kaufman Herald

KAUFMAN – Melanie Mazur is the new publisher of the Kaufman Herald.
She introduced herself in a column published July 18, noting that while she has mostly lived and worked in northern states, she has family ties to Texas and warm memories of visits to Gonzales, Odessa and Castroville.
Most recently, she has been working in Colorado.
“We are the caretakers for your local newspaper, and it’s not a job we take lightly,” Mazur wrote.

Hennigan succeeds Stone as publisher at Taylor Press

TAYLOR – Managing Editor Jason Hennigan has been promoted to publisher of the Taylor Press.
Daniel Philhower, vice president of operations for Granite Publications, announced the appointment.
Hennigan succeeds Richard Stone, who retired March 1.
A native of Taylor, Hennington began his tenure at the Press in March 2013 as a reporter. In early 2014, he was promoted to news editor. Last year, he was promoted to managing editor.

Bright named GM for Texarkana Gazette

TEXARKANA – James Bright is the new general manager of the Texarkana Gazette.
The announcement was made by Mark Lane, president of WEHCO Media’s newspaper division.
Bright has served as a managing editor, general manager, advertising director and regional publisher for newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma, most recently the Duncan, Okla., Banner and the Express-Star of Chickasha, Okla. His most recent position was marketer for HealthCare Express.

Management changes announced at MediaOne, Van Zandt papers

There have been management changes at several publications owned by MediaOne, LLC.
Taking on new duties for the Monitor in Mabank, The Kerens Tribune and The News Serving Athens and Malakoff are Stephanie Evans, general manager; Denise York, managing editor; and Janice Grubbs-Vincik, director of sales.
John Buzzetta, president of MediaOne, LLC, announced the changes.
Susan Harrison, who had been general manager for the publications for 19 years, moved away from the area. Buzzetta said Harrison will continue working with the company as director of employee relations.

The Tarleton State University graduate joined the newspaper staff in early March.
