Brady Standard-Herald staff changes, new hire announced

BRADY – The Brady Standard-Herald announced several organizational changes, including the promotion of Amanda Howell to editor of the family-owned newspaper, the appointment of Holly Stewart as publisher, and the hiring of Charles Hodges as the newspaper’s reporter.

Howell has worked at the newspaper since February 1999.

Taylor Press welcomes new editor, reporter

TAYLOR – Granite Media Partners welcomed two new staff members at the Taylor Press.

Jason Chlapek is the new area managing editor for the Taylor Press and the Elgin Courier. Emily Treadway is a general assignment reporter specializing in education.

WICHITA FALLS – Trish Choate has been named editor of the Gannett newspapers in Wichita Falls, Abilene and San Angelo.

Choate served as interim editor of the publications beginning in March.

KERRVILLE – The Kerrville Daily Times has a new publisher with a small-town upbringing, a love of tight-knit communities and an appreciation for what the Texas Hill Country represents.

John Wells came to Kerrville from Bainbridge, Georgia, where he has served as publisher of The Post-Searchlight newspaper.

“I’m excited about this opportunity,” Wells said. “We really believe Kerrville is a special place. I live in a small town, grew up in a small town — that’s what we were looking for.”

MARSHALL – Timothy Stuckey has joined the staff of The Marshall News Messenger as a staff reporter.

Temple Telegram appoints Morrissey general manager

TEMPLE – Scot Morrissey, a veteran newspaper publisher and digital operations manager, is the new general manager of the Temple Daily Telegram, Mrs. Sue Mayborn, the newspaper’s editor and publisher, announced. 

Morrissey succeeded Don Cooper, who had been acting general manager since Aug. 5. 

MARBLE FALLS – Jeff Shabram has retired as publisher for Highland Lakes Publishing, (HLP), including the Highlander in Marble Falls and the Burnet Bulletin.

TAYLOR – Jason Hennington, former area editor for the Taylor Press and Elgin Courier, has left the newspaper to join the faculty of Hutto High School, teaching photography.

A native of Taylor, Hennington started as a reporter with his hometown newspaper in 2013 and moved into leadership positions, including editor and publisher of the Taylor Press, before stepping up to area editor for Granite Media Partners.

He is a graduate of Sul Ross University with bachelor and masters degrees.
