Promotions, new hires and other staff changes at Texas newspapers reported in the January 2024 edition of the Texas Press Messenger.

Sarah Forsythe, Brenham Banner-Press

BRENHAM – Sarah Forsythe has joined The Banner-Press newsrooms as a reporter.

“Having been part of the audience for the Brenham Banner-Press for just over 10 years myself, I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the team,” she said.

Forsythe has previous writing experience with the Bellville Times, where she was the news editor from January 2016 to May 2017.

Her appointment in Brenham was announced by Managing Editor Keith E. Domke. Forsythe succeeds Lucas Banda, who has gone to work for his hometown newspaper in San Angelo.

Forsythe covers a mixture of government and community meetings and contributes feature stories and other general assignment stories and photographs.

She said she was blessed to learn newspaper journalism from Bruce White at The Bellville Times and is looking forward to utilizing that knowledge at The Banner-Press.

She was born and raised in Houston and graduated from Memorial High School in Spring Branch before relocating to Brenham in 2012. She attended Blinn College before commuting to the University of Houston to complete her degree. She earned a bachelor of arts in English with a concentration in creative writing in May 2015.
