Award winning photographer Joe Duty is a new associate member of Texas Press Association.
TPA associate membership is extended to firms engaged in the sale or distribution of newspaper supplies or services directly related to the production of newspapers, commercial printing firms, advertising agencies and departments of journalism in recognized schools and colleges. 

TAYLOR – Managing Editor Jason Hennigan has been promoted to publisher of the Taylor Press.
Daniel Philhower, vice president of operations for Granite Publications, announced the appointment.
Hennigan succeeds Richard Stone, who retired March 1.

TEXARKANA – James Bright is the new general manager of the Texarkana Gazette.
The announcement was made by Mark Lane, president of WEHCO Media’s newspaper division.

There have been management changes at several publications owned by MediaOne, LLC.
Taking on new duties for the Monitor in Mabank, The Kerens Tribune and The News Serving Athens and Malakoff are Stephanie Evans, general manager; Denise York, managing editor; and Janice Grubbs-Vincik, director of sales.
John Buzzetta, president of MediaOne, LLC, announced the changes.

The Palestine Herald-Press won a Scripps-Howard award in the opinion category for editorials written by Editor Jeffery Gerritt. 
The “What Are They Hiding?” series included editorials that examined two issues with local impact: how an athletic commission treated a football player and the state’s seeming rush to execute death-row prisoners.

LLANO – Megan Ables is the new editor of the Llano News.
The Tarleton State University graduate joined the newspaper staff in early March.
