HEBBRONVILLE – The Enterprise has marked 100 years and more than 5,000 editions.

In a story published May 6, Publisher Pancho Hernandez Jr. noted that when the newspaper began, a year’s subscription for Hebbronville and Jim Hogg County residents was $2.

“It was also a time when pressmen cranked their presses to produce the newspaper for the weekly editions,” Hernandez noted.

FORT WORTH - Fort Worth Black News founder Jill Darden, 52, died suddenly April 24 — days before her birthday on May 2, her sister Ginger Darden-Ford confirmed.

AUSTIN — The Texas Newspaper Foundation has selected four exemplary journalists – William Blair Jr., Randy Mankin, Frank Mayborn and Burl Osborne — for induction into the Texas Newspaper Foundation Hall of Fame in June.

After about five years of providing the Gatesville community with weekly local news, the April 25 edition of The Gatesville Messenger marks the last newspaper parent company Hyde Media will produce before ownership transfers to the Copperas Cove Leader Press.
