HEREFORD — The Panhandle Press Association gathered in March for its 112th annual meeting.
The convention opened with a luncheon on Friday with Austin Lewter of the Texas Center for Community Journalism and a review of what services are offered by the TCCJ. An afternoon session focused on the use of podcasts and Facebook Live to connect with a wider audience and as a possible revenue source. Friday evening, the PPA was welcomed with a reception at the new offices of the Hereford Brand before returning to the new Hereford Civic Center for the Hall of Fame banquet.
HAMILTON – Golfers teed up at the Perry Golf Course Thursday morning, April 7, and later journalists from the North and East Texas Press Association and the West Texas Press Association were welcomed to the Circle T Resort in Hamilton for their second joint convention.
Members of the two regional press associations opened the convention that evening with a meal from Wenzel Lone Star Meat Company.

AUSTIN – A delegation of South Texas Press Association members joined family, friends and colleagues of the late Sam Fore Keach as he was inducted into the Friends of the Daily Texan Hall of Fame April 8.
The induction ceremonies were part of the annual awards program and dinner held on the campus of The University of Texas. The awards are sponsored annually by the Friends of The Daily Texan, a nonprofit group established in 2013 to support journalistic quality and a strong future in a digital world for The Daily Texan, student newspaper at the University of Texas at Austin.

AUSTIN – Plans are underway to make the 2022 silent auction benefiting the Texas Newspaper Foundation a unique shopping experience.
The auction is part of the annual TPA Convention & Trade Show, scheduled July 28 - 30 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel Conference Center & Spa.
The auction is displayed in the trade show hall, along with dozens of vendors introducing products, services and software designed for the newspaper industry.
The 2022 Robert Burns Memorial Golf Classic benefiting the Texas Newspaper Foundation will kick off the annual TPA Convention and Trade Show July 28-30.
Tournament tee time is 8 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at The Bandit Golf Club near New Braunfels.
Headquarters for the 2022 TPA Convention and Trade Show is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel, Spa and San Marcos Convention Center on I35 in San Marcos. Lumen is sponsor of the tournament.
Registration form is available online at www.tnf.net/golf-tournament. Cost to play is $100, which includes green fee and cart.
TPA member volunteers are needed to judge entries in the West Virginia Press Association contest.
The WVPA contest entry period is still under way with judging scheduled in May.
Annual contests are made possible with the help of other press associations across the country, which participate in a contest swap to judge one another’s competitions.
