Promotions, staff additions at Texas newspapers.
RACHEL WOODS, Atlanta Citizen, Cass County Sun
ATLANTA – Rachel Woods is the new general manager of the Atlanta Citizens Journal and Cass County Sun.
The newspapers are part of Northeast Texas Publishing, LP.
Woods has been with the newspaper since 2013, most recently serving as the business manager. She is a 2007 graduate of New Boston High School, and studied journalism at Texarkana College.
“I am excited to accept this new level of responsibility for the newspaper and the staff and I will be working hard to publish the best community newspaper possible,” she said.
Woods serves in the adult choir program at First Baptist Church. She also serves as the church’s fourth-grade choir director, and as bookkeeper for the Piney Woods Youth Soccer League board of directors.
She and her husband, Ben Woods, who is the editor of the Cass County Sun in Linden, have three children, Evan, 8, Elijah, 5 and Elle, 3. They have lived in Cass County since 2008.
John Dilmore, Mount Pleasant Tribune
MOUNT PLEASANT – John Dilmore has been named managing editor of the Mount Pleasant Tribune.
Dilmore comes to Mount Pleasant from the Tribune’s sister paper in Atlanta.
In addition to serving as editor and general manager of the Andrews County News and publisher of the Alpine Avalanche, he has managed newsrooms in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
He has won numerous awards for column and editorial writing.
Dilmore is a 1995 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in journalism. He and his wife Jennifer will live in Mount Pleasant.
MICHELLE DILLON, Tri County Leader
WHITEHOUSE – In taking over the news reporting duties at the Tri County Leader, Michelle Dillon succeeds her daughter, Patricia Dillon, who moved to Houston.
An avid reader, Dillon got her start in journalism in 2013 covering football games for the Mount Pleasant Daily Tribune. When she moved to Jacksonville two years later she continued attending Friday night games and writing stories for the Jacksonville Daily Progress. She said she accepted the position at the Tri County Leader to continue her love of reading and writing.
She is an active member of East Side Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where her husband is the pastor.
SHEA BLAIR, The Paris News
PARIS – Shea Blair has joined The Paris News and Paris Life staff as sports editor.
A journalism major at the University of Oklahoma, Blair has more than seven years of copywriting and editorial project experience.
Most recently, Blair worked as a freelance designer and copywriter, as well as a social media strategist and website copywriter for a digital marketing firm in Southern California.
She will lead the newspaper’s sports staff in improving sports coverage and designing the sports pages.
Moving with her to Northeast Texas are her husband, who recently retired from the Marines, and their four-year-old son.
HEATHER SUTTON, The New Stamford American
STAMFORD – Heather Sutton is the new editor of The New Stamford American, taking over with the Aug. 18 edition.
A resident of the city for six years, she is married to Stamford native Chris Osborn.
