Tucker named publisher of The Winnsboro News

The Winnsboro News welcomed a new publisher when Larry Tucker joined the staff following the departure of Bryan Giguere.
A 1973 graduate of East Texas State University, Tucker has a background in newspaper and broadcast journalism and spent two decades working as a teacher and coach.
Tucker’s teaching/coaching career took him to Seguin, Lancaster, Dallas, Clarksville, Wilmer-Hutchins, Yantis, Dallas charter school A+ Academy and North Hopkins.
Leaving the education field in 1981, he turned to the radio and newspaper business for the next 20 years before returning to teach special education in 2001 at his alma mater, W.W. Samuell High School in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas.
In 2014, he joined Bluebonnet Publishing as editor of the Wood County Democrat, which merged with the Mineola Monitor in 2016 to become the Wood County Monitor.
Tucker said he was happy to remain in Wood County, where his roots run deep.
Meredith Simpson, daughter of the late Tom and Karen Pendergast, is the majority owner and president of The Winnsboro News.
