CORSICANA – Robert Lynn Ludwig, former managing editor of the Corsicana Daily Sun, died Aug. 3. He was 56.
Originally from the Houston and Pasadena area, he attended San Jacinto College and graduated from the University of Houston in Clear Lake.
He worked for several newspapers, including the Pasadena Citizen and Brazosport Facts, before becoming managing editor of the Corsicana Daily Sun in 1995.
Due to health issues, he left the newspaper after a few years to work as public information/community involvement specialist for the Corsicana Independent School District. He also assumed the title of executive director of the Corsicana Education Foundation. 
As photographer for the Corsicana ISD, he continued to assist the Daily Sun. In recent years, he helped the sports staff cover Friday night high school sports and get pages to press for the Saturday edition.
He was active in the Corsicana community, serving as an officer for the Navarro Council of the Arts, VOICE Inc. and Family Service, the Monday Navarro Rotary Club, the Salvation Army, Derrick Days committee, the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce, Corsicana Development Board, Palace Theatre Restoration, Corsicana Sesquicentennial Committee and the United Way. 
He also started the Corsicana Clothing Closet for students in need of backpacks, shoes, coats, uniforms and other clothing items.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, two sisters and other relatives.
Memorial service was held Aug. 9 at Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana. 
Memorials may be made to the CISD Clothing/Shoe Support program, the Corsicana Education Foundation or the Humane Society of Navarro County.
