What: Virtual Press Conference Regarding COVID-19 becoming presumptive under Texas Law for ALL First Responders.

CLEAT will continue with our push to make COVID-19 a presumptive illness in the State of Texas. Our initial demand for rights was made on March 24, 2020 and we are still awaiting a response from Governor Greg Abbott that will cover all of our first responders. Since then, CLEAT and elected officials have sent letters and videos to the Governor explaining our position.
Making COVID-19 a presumptive illness for first responders is very important to us as the current law will not cover them for COVID as it stands today. Law enforcement is out there exposing themselves and in many cases without the proper PPE. All of our years of experience at the Capitol fighting for law enforcement tells us that political subdivisions will not do the right thing just naturally. They have to be pushed through by changing the rules or the law which is why will never leave this issue alone.
In addition to formally written correspondence, CLEAT made two videos and recorded audio message directed at Governor Abbott in regards to the aforementioned problem.
