AUSTIN AFTER DARK FILM FESTIVAL 2021 SHINES AS FESTIVAL LINEUP CATERS TO THE DARK SIDE OF CINEMA.

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- April 28, 2021 – Austin After Dark Film Festival (AADFF), the leading multi-day festival for filmmakers, screenwriters, and viewers alike whom enjoy taking in the dark side of cinema in its many forms. AADFF is a featured festival under the Film Festival Circuit event program that encourages the art of seeing films in a live, theater setting. After pivoting to a handful of virtual events due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Austin After Dark Film Festival is excited to announce their three-day, in-person event programing from May 14 – 16, 2021.

The Austin After Dark Film Festival provides a platform for film makers to showcase content that would be more appropriate for a mature audience. (Not that kind of mature audience!) The AADFF judges encourage filmmakers to submit their films that are filled with a darker sense of humor, scary situations, evil villains, creepy concepts or eerie post-apocalyptic settings.

While these films aren’t for your G-rated audience, there is over 12 hours of films scheduled for this year’s niche and fast-paced program. The AADFF judges have hand-selected films submitted across fifteen categories, ensuring a diverse programming that all audiences will love. Just as long as they are over the age of 18!

AADFF has partnered with Doc’s Drive-in Theatre to provide a memorable experience for attendees. Included with the ticket price are delicious homemade barbeque sandwiches, unlimited popcorn, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks available for purchase, and AADFF’s own creepy-crawling photographers on-site to capture the excitement of returning to the theaters. Photos will be available for free download after the event.

In conjunction with the film screenings, AADFF is hosting a Live Screenplay Reading session on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Lakeline. AADFF matched selected screenwriters with actors in the Austin area to perfect their one scene for the live reading. The event is set to feature readings from seven screenwriters from across the United States.

The screenplay readings will take place at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Lakeline. The Austin After Dark Film Festival judges are searching for films with "dark" subject matter in multiple genres. Horror Films, Dark Comedy, Dark Animation Films, Dark Drama and even Dark Science Fiction. This is the wrong festival to send your fun family G Rated films and screenplays too.
