DAVID BALL
Bi-Stone Newspapers
FAIRFIELD – Veteran journalist David Ball has joined the staff of Bi-Stone Newspapers, including the Fairfield Reporter.
Ball will work in Freestone County but will help where needed at the Limestone County papers, according to Richard Nelson, editor and publisher for the group of papers that includes The Fairfield Recorder, Teague Chronicle, The Mexia News and Groesbeck Journal.
Nelson said he and Ball worked together at the Jacksonville Daily Progress years ago.
In addition to the Jacksonville newspaper, Ball has experience with daily and weekly newspapers in Jefferson, Orange and Hardin counties.
A native of Beaumont, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in history at Lamar University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and also has experience in education and sales.
Ball credits his work with the University Press at Lamar University for his interest in journalism.
He will cover Freestone County Commissioners Court and Fairfield City Council, in addition to working closely with law-enforcement authorities, according to Nelson.
