ISOJ returns to Austin March 27-28

The 2025 International Symposium on Online Journalism at UT Austin March 27-28 will feature leading journalists from top news outlets and organizations, like National Public Radio, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, ProPublica, and The New York Times.

“Every year, ISOJ convenes leading journalists from across the globe to share cutting-edge practices, tools, and trends, and this year’s program is no exception,” said Summer Harlow, associate director of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, which organizes ISOJ.

“The roster of panels and speakers promises to be one of the most compelling in ISOJ’s 26-year history, giving us a glimpse into how journalism is evolving, whether because of AI and other new technologies, challenges to democracy, or the emergence of new actors, like digital content creators. You don’t want to miss it!”

Since 1999, ISOJ has attracted journalists, media executives and scholars from around the world, helping lead the conversation on how digital technologies are reshaping the journalism field. With ISOJ’s unique blend of professional practice and academia, participants can engage with the latest research, methods and educational practices.

This year’s conference will be held at the Shirley Bird Perry Ballroom at the University of Texas at Austin on March 27 and 28, but it will also be possible to participate online, through video streaming and special features that enhance remote participation.

Both in-person and online participants will have full access to keynote presentations and panels, and will be able to connect with fellow participants through a dedicated ISOJ 2025 Slack community.

In-person participation also includes breakfast, lunch, snacks during breaks and an open-bar welcome party. Workshops are also included, but seats are limited. Registration for these sessions will be announced shortly.

Online participation goes beyond streaming of panels to include ways for remote participants to engage with speakers and fellow attendees. As in recent years, online participants will be able to attend live Q&As with select speakers.
