Hawkins named publisher of Brownfield News

BROWNFIELD – Christy Hawkins has become publisher of the Brownfield News, succeeding former editor and publisher Brian Brisendine, who is now executive director of the Brownfield Industrial Development Corp.
Hawkins is also publisher of the Seminole Sentinel, where she succeeded the late Lynn Brisendine two years ago. She has been with the company for 23 years. 
The announcement was made by Blake Roberts of the Roberts Publishing Group.
Gina Caswell Kelly has been promoted to managing editor. A full-time employee for five years, Kelly has been a columnist for the newspaper for almost 23 years. In addition to news coverage, she covers sports for Brownfield High School.
Eric Horton, a local pastor, has joined the staff part time to cover Wellman-Union news and sports as well as general assignments.
Advertising sales and service continue under the supervision of Advertising Manager Mattie Garcia with Mandy Contreras handling classifieds and circulation. 
Garcia has been with the newspaper for 12 years. Contreras, who also helps cover Meadow Bronc sports, has been with the newspaper for six years.
