William Carroll named publisher in Center
CENTER – Moser Community Media’s Northeast Texas Publishing Group recently named Mississippi native William Carroll as the new publisher for The Light and Champion.
Carroll, who recently moved to Center after working in the Midwest, has more than a decade of experience working primarily as an editor for community newspapers throughout the country.
Carroll previously served as an editor for newspapers in Indiana, New England, Kentucky and Arkansas.
He also served for a year as the publisher for a small group of four newspapers in northwestern Oklahoma.
Prior to getting into journalism, Carroll was a practicing attorney in Arizona for 10 years. During that time he served as a prosecutor for more than six years and then operated his own law firm for nearly four years.
Northeast Texas Publishing Group Manager Mark Henry said Carroll has “a solid background in operating community newspapers and we believe he will help the staff better service the readers and advertisers and communities in Shelby County.”
“I have been in the newspaper business for over 13 years, and in that time one of the things I have learned is the importance of being involved in community activities,” Carroll said, adding Carroll said he was attracted to Center due to its proximity to his family in Mississippi and for its small town feel.
He also said he looks forward to working with The Light and Champion staff.
