Time to register for 2021 Convention and Trade Show

It’s time to register for the 2021 Texas Press Association Convention and Trade Show, set June 10-12 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Denton Convention Center.
The event, postponed from January, will feature a wide variety of informative sessions, the Texas Newspaper Hall of Fame 2021 induction ceremony, TPA awards and awards in the Texas Better Newspaper Contest.
In addition, golfers have the opportunity to participate in the annual Robert Burns Memorial Golf Classic. Tee time is 8 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at Oakmont Country Club golf course. Cost to play is $100, which includes greens fee, cart, practice balls, breakfast burritos and fun. Hotel reservation information and registration forms are available online at www.texaspress.com. Deadline to register is May 26.
The registration fee for the three-day event is $275 for all members. Due to increasing expenses, free convention registration can no longer be extended to ad network participants. However, the TPA board voted to continue providing one free two-night hotel stay to newspapers that participate in the ad network.
Full registration includes the trade show, Hall of Fame luncheon, contest awards brunch, all meals, sessions and hospitality events. 
Single-event registration of $75 per person per event is available for the Hall of Fame luncheon on Friday and the awards brunch on Saturday. Deadline for registration and hotel reservations is May 26.
A pre-convention bonus session, Adding Value to Your Newspaper, kicks off events at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, followed by the trade show reception, sponsored by eType Services. In addition to the vendor booths, the reception gives convention attendees a first look at the many items in the annual silent auction benefiting the Texas Center for Community Journalism at Tarleton State University. 
The trade show and silent auction will be open again Friday morning, June 11, until shortly before noon, when winners in the silent auction will be announced.
The Hall of Fame luncheon, sponsored by Explore Branson, begins at 11:45 a.m. and will feature induction ceremonies for the four new honorees.
Following the luncheon, general sessions are scheduled throughout the afternoon Friday and Saturday morning, June 12. Speakers and topics include Don Richards, Legal Q&A; Max Kabat, Big Bend Sentinel, Marfa, Innovative Ideas; Ken Cooke, Fredericksburg Standard Radio Post, Online Video Revenue; Jack Stallard, Longview News-Journal, Sports Writing Ideas; Jason Chlapek, Polk County Enterprise, Sports for Multiple Schools; Bill Patterson, Denton Record-Chronicle and chairman of the TPA Legislative Advisory Committee, Legislative Update; TPA President Jim Bardwell, Gladewater Mirror, Unbiased Reporting; and Barbara Brannon, the Texas Spur, Texas Treasure Awards.
Other session topics include The State of Obits in Newspapers and Census and Surveys Expanded.
The awards brunch, sponsored by CenturyLink, is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Recipients of the Frank W. Mayborn Award for Community Leadership, the Golden 50 Award and the Fred Hartman Award for Excellence in Sports Writing will be honored and winners in the 2019-20 Texas Better Newspaper Contest will be announced.
The convention adjourns at noon Saturday. The 2022 Convention and Trade Show is scheduled  July 28-30, 2022, in San Marcos.
