Silent Auction benefits Texas Newspaper Foundation

Items are now being accepted for the annual silent auction benefiting the Texas Newspaper Foundation.
Items will be on display and up for bid during the trade show at the annual TPA convention Jan. 21-23. Bidding ends at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, when winners will pay for and pick up their items.
Items of all kinds have made past auctions popular and successful, including collectibles and home décor items; sports paraphernalia and memorabilia; regional culinary treats and local agricultural products such as Texas-grown olive oil, wine and honey; books; newspaper-themed fashion accessories and wall art.
Members may send their auction item donations to TPA Executive Director Mike Hodges (shipping/mailing address is 8800 Business Park Drive, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78759) or bring them to the conference on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Members who cannot attend the convention are welcome to send donations to the TPA office as well. It’s a great cause to consider for regifting unneeded Christmas presents.
Funds raised at the auction benefit the foundation’s support of the Texas Center for Community Journalism, now located at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, where Dan Malone and Kathryn Jones-Malone are co-directors. TCCJ provides mid-career training for newspaper professionals, including the Revenue Conference, which was held as a virtual event in August during pandemic restrictions.
The foundation also sponsors the Texas Newspaper Hall of Fame, recognizing leaders for their contributions to the Texas newspaper industry and their continuing impact through mentorship of other journalists.
