San Marcos Record transitions to three print editions per week

SAN MARCOS – The San Marcos Record has transitioned from five to three print days per week.

Publisher Mandy Farrow announced the Dec. 1 change in a story published Nov. 24.

“This change has been discussed for years,”  Farrow, said. “It’s not about delivering less; it’s about delivering better. This strategy allows us to adapt to how our readers consume news while continuing to uphold our standards for quality journalism.”

The Daily Record is embracing the change to meet readers’ expectations in the digital age.

“I want to be clear, readers will be getting the same amount of news over a week as they do right now,” Dalton Sweat, regional editor, said. “We are not cutting back on journalists or on space. We are simply changing the frequency in which we print the physical newspaper.”

Sweat and Farrow noted the new print schedule focuses on publishing larger editions on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Each issue features an increased page count to include all the news.

As part of the transition, all print subscriptions will include a free digital subscription, giving readers unlimited access to daily news updates online.

“All subscriptions will be extended so that every subscriber will get the same amount of print issues as they originally paid for,” Farrow said. “We are committed to proving to our readers that this transition will result in a better product for everyone.”
