Robinson appointed The Daily News GM
GALVESTON – Michelle Robinson has been promoted to the newly created post of general manager for The Daily News in Galveston.
Robinson is responsible for operational duties of the newspaper and will retain her role as chief revenue officer.
“I am proud of the great work Michelle is doing at The Daily News, changing our digital culture and creating stronger relationships in our community,” said Leonard Woolsey, publisher of The Daily News.
Woolsey serves as president of Southern Newspapers and will remain publisher of The Daily News. The new general manager post will involve an expanded leadership role over internal operations and community activities.
“I have no doubt she will continue to rise to the challenge of embracing opportunities for the newspaper, community and staff,” Woolsey said. “She has community newspaper ink and spirit in her DNA.”
Robinson, a 19-year veteran of the newspaper industry, came to The Daily News in 2022.
“I am honored to have this opportunity and so excited to continue creating history,” Robinson said.
Robinson and her husband, Jeff, live on Galveston Island with their three dogs.
The Daily News is the oldest newspaper in Texas, founded in 1842. The Daily News is a member of Southern Newspapers, an independently and Texas-owned newspaper company based in Houston. Southern owns and operates 10 newspapers in Texas and one in Oklahoma.
