Parra named publisher of The Banner-Press

BRENHAM – Jeff Parra is the new publisher of The Banner-Press in Brenham.
Fred Hartman, general partner, announced the appointment, praising Parra's experience and leadership.
A veteran of nearly three decades in the newspaper industry, Parra replaced Derek Hall.
A graduate of Kansas State University, Parra also attended Blinn College in Brenham in 1981-82 and said he looks forward to getting reacquainted with and involved in the community.
Prior to Brenham, Parra was most recently publisher of The Boerne Star. He has also served as publisher for newspapers in LaGrange, Ala.; Muskogee, Okla., Waxahachie and Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Additionally, he worked in sales in the Memphis and St. Louis metropolitan areas and earned the rank of associate publisher. His experience also includes five years service in the U.S. Marines.
