Christelle Troell

PLEASANTON – Christelle Troell, who worked on and off for the Pleasanton Express for more than 50 years, died June 27. She was a former news editor and photographer who covered meetings and continued to contribute until her passing.

She was hired — part time at first — when the Wilkerson family purchased the Express. Then Bill Wilkerson assigned her to take photos when no one else was available.

She developed an artistic eye for newspaper photography, then began interviewing and writing articles with her own take on people and events.

She served as news editor for years as well as covering the courthouse and was compiling the bookings in Atascosa County.

She married Richard Troell in 1964. He preceded her in death in 2024. She is survived by three children, five grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church and ACT Theater (both addresses are 1435 W. Oaklawn, Pleasanton, TX) or to any charity of choice in her name.

A memorial service was held at Aug. 1 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pleasanton.
