TPA Convention & Trade Show registration deadline June 1

Register now for the Texas Press Association Convention & Trade Show June 18-20 at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport Hotel.

The three-day event includes the annual trade show, the Hall of Fame and Golden 50 Award luncheon and a full slate of industry sessions, as well as an excursion to the American Airlines CR Smith Flight Museum. (See Page 4 for a full agenda.)

In addition, the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas and the Texas Attorney General’s Office will hold an Open Government seminar during the opening afternoon of the convention.

The seminar will address timely topics related to the Texas Public Information Act and Texas Open Meetings Act, as well as updates on recent changes to the laws.

The program provides detailed training and is directed toward government employees, attorneys, journalists and anyone wanting to learn more about open government laws.

Rufus Friday, director of the Center for Integrity in News Reporting, is the keynote speaker for the Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremonies Friday, when Golden 50 honorees will also be recognized.

General sessions on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning will feature speakers and panels on a variety of topics.

Speakers include Guy Tasaka, managing partner at Tasaka Digital and Editor & Publisher’s technology columnist; Brad Hill of Interlink; Nicki Purcell, artificial intelligence consultant; and Linda White, senior vice president of GlobeRunner digital marketing, a consulting firm.

Registration, including all meals and events, is $400; $350 for each additional person attending from the same newspaper. In addition to full registration, members may register for individual events such as the Hall of Fame Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 19, and the Better Newspaper Contest awards luncheon on Saturday, June 20.

Members who participate in the Texas Press Service ad networks may qualify for one or two free nights at the convention hotel.
