Ashley Chandler named publisher in Center

CENTER – Lifelong Shelby County resident Ashley Chandler has been named publisher of The Light and Champion.

The announcement was made by Mark Henry, vice president of Texas Local Media.

“We are excited about Ashley’s future as the publisher of The Light and Champion,” Henry said. “She has demonstrated the ability and willingness to tackle the leadership role for the newspaper and we are confident she will be instrumental in leading the paper and staff to better serve our readers, advertisers and the communities in Shelby County.”

Chandler started with the newspaper more than two years ago as bookkeeper and soon transitioned to the advertising department. She served as an advertising sales representative and ad manager until she was named general manager in early May.

Chandler expressed appreciation and enthusiasm for the opportunity. “I appreciate the staff here, and with their help we will keep improving the newspaper in all its formats and platforms,” she said. “We look forward to feedback and ideas from the community and our readers and advertisers.”

The Light and Champion was acquired by Texas Local Media, formerly Moser Community Media, in September of 2017.
