Report for America application info session set Sept. 25

Report for America will host an information session for Texas Press Association members to learn about the program and consider applying during the application period Sept. 15 through Oct. 20.

Report for America is a national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities. RFA has placed more than 700 reporters into 450+ newsrooms in all 50 states to fill critical news coverage gaps. 

Through a two-year commitment Report for America helps host newsrooms by recruiting a local reporter to cover the beat specified as needing coverage. Report for America will pay half the salary of the reporter for the first year and 33 percent for the second year. Ongoing training and support for the new reporter is also provided and the Local News Sustainability Team helps host newsrooms raise money from the local community to sustain the remaining portion of the salary.
