3/22 Arif Panju provided a substitute with assurance that TPA will not oppose if it is accepted. The sub addresses the concern that Rep. Wu raised (i.e., misuse in litigation of malpractice claims), and it preserves the anti-SLAPP shield for speakers (e.g., making statements on the courthouse steps or ). TPA will not oppose if the statute clarifies that lawsuits challenging their reporting on cases involving bodily injury/death remain covered under the statute (i.e., an easy clean up to the existing (b)(1) language addressing the media exemptions).
