Midwinter conference, trade show to feature ‘Magic of Design and Publishing’

Professional magician and InDesign pro Jonathan Levit will be featured speaker at the Texas Press Midwinter Conference and Trade Show Jan. 19-21 at the Embassy Suites Dallas Frisco Hotel, Convention Center & Spa, at 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive in Frisco.

With more than 25 years experience in the desktop publishing and graphic design industries, and as an Adobe certified instructor and expert in InDesign, Levit is a popular trainer and consultant.

His says his goal is to improve the production and creative process for companies and individuals. Working within the print and digital publishing world, Levit provides template development and creation, training and consulting services. Integrating real world experience, he has improved the workflow, production and creative departments for a variety of clients, including top magazines, advertising agencies, newspapers and in-house creative and marketing departments.

Levit notes that for most people who aren’t in the design and publishing industry, what designers do is magic. “And, in fact, the foundations of stage magic and design often overlap,” he explains. “The concepts, theory and application used to create unimaginable on-stage mysteries can also be used to elevate your design and production process.”

As part of the presentation, Levit promises to perform a few fascinating feats of magic and production, what he likes to call “presti-design-itation.”

Levit is just one of a line-up of Midwinter Conference speakers delivering information and insights important to community newspapers. The event also includes a 50-booth trade show giving members the perfect opportunity to meet face-to-face with exhibitors providing goods and services for newspapers. Highlighting the event will be the Texas Newspaper Foundation’s Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony.
