MCM appoints Tim Timmons group publisher
MEXIA – Tim Timmons has assumed duties as group publisher for The Cameron Herald, Groesbeck Journal, The Freestone County Recorder-Chronicle in Fairfield, The Marlin Democrat, The Mexia News, The Rosebud News and Thorndale Champion, all owned by Moser Community Media.
“We are excited to have Tim over this group of central Texas newspapers,” owner Jim Moser said in announcing Timmons’ appointment. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and many years of successful media management experience to the table. Our goal is to put out a quality news product for our communities, and I know Tim will do just that.”
This will be the second time Timmons has worked in Texas. Earlier in his career he was sports editor at the Odessa American.
Since 2004, Timmons has been the chief executive officer of Sagamore News, a small media company in Indiana that consisted of two dailies, two weeklies and multiple web sites. Prior to that he was vice president and general manager of the South Bend Tribune, a regional publisher in Northern California and a general manger in North Carolina.
Timmons has won multiple state and national honors for his writing, including from the Associated Press and several state press associations.
He is also author of the business book Coaching Success – Creating Champions for the Business World.
He has always been active in the communities where he worked, serving in leadership positions with multiple chambers of commerce, Boys and Girls Clubs, civic groups and state press associations.
