Lange Svehlak appointed CHNI regional publisher

Lange Svehlak, publisher of the Athens Daily Review, has been appointed regional publisher of CNHI’s newspapers in East Texas.

Svehlak’s expanded responsibilities now include the Corsicana Daily Sun, Huntsville Item, Jacksonville Progress, and Palestine Herald-Press. He replaces Jake Mienk as group publisher.

Svehlak has served as regional advertising director and digital specialist for the East Texas CNHI papers since

2018.

A native of Ennis, Svehlak is a business management graduate of Navarro College in Corsicana. He has more than 25 years of experience in print and digital advertising.

He started his newspaper career in 1998 at his hometown paper as a sales representative. Ten years later, he moved to Athens as publisher of the Daily Review.

“I am honored and excited,” said Svehlak. “I have been a part of these newspapers for 15

years. We have an amazing group of people that put their time, and talents into each of these newspapers and their communities.”

Robyn McCloskey, CNHI regional executive for East Texas, said Svehlak’s experience and dedication to community journalism will ensure the newspapers continue to progress in both print and online forms.

Svehlak succeeds Jake Mienk, who resigned to join his family-owned insurance business in Tyler. He worked with Svehlak for the last 12 years.“Lange earned this opportunity,” he said. “I am happy these newspapers are in good hands.”
