Joe Warren succeeds Russel Stiles as publisher of Lamesa Press-Reporter

LAMESA – Joe Warren, a veteran journalist with a strong background in both news and marketing, has been named to the top position at the Lamesa Press-Reporter.

Warren replaces Russel Skiles, who retired as publisher after a 43-year career with the Press-Reporter.

Warren oversees all of the news, sales, administration, production and digital operations of the business. He also serves as group publisher for the other seven West Texas newspapers owned by Dalhart Texan Media LLC, with the home base in Lamesa.

Prior to relocating to Lamesa, Warren worked as publisher and director of operations for Country Media Inc. in Tillamook, Oregon, for the past ten years. He’s no stranger to the newspaper business in Texas, having held publisher positions in Monahans, Dalhart and the North Central Texas towns of Muenster, Lindsay and Whitesboro.

Warren started work in April at the Press-Reporter, meeting all the staff, getting out in the community and visiting the other papers in West Texas.

“This is a very good newspaper and a progressive company,” Warren said. “We’ve already added one weekly paper to our group since I’ve been here. Where other companies are selling or closing papers, this company is adding to their footprint in West Texas.”
