Hood County News purchased by Hyde Media Group

GRANBURY – The Hood County News changed hands Aug. 13 when the twice-weekly newspaper became the first acquisition of the newly formed Hyde Media Group owned by Paul Hyde, a longtime Hood County resident and founder of the Hyde Law Firm.
The sale ended the HCN’s legacy as a member of the Roberts Publishing Group and the tenure of longtime publisher Jerry Tidwell, who recently retired.
Hyde named Sam Houston to lead the HCN as its publisher. Houston has experience in marketing, radio and television – skills that will be utilized to develop a strong presence for the HCN on multiple platforms.
The newspaper will continue to be published twice-weekly in print and digital form, Houston said. The local staff will be retained.
Houston also announced a new design for the print product would be unveiled with the Sept. 2 edition and that the newspaper’s presses will continue to roll.
