BNC entry deadline nears

TPA members have until Friday, Feb. 13, to enter the 2025 Texas Better Newspaper Contest.

Contest managers should register and upload entries on the TPA page of the ACES contest website. Instructions, rules and other information are available on the TPA website.

Participants are reminded that online-only content is allowed in some categories. Please read the rules carefully. In addition, the rules specify AI-generated or AI-modified/enhanced content is not eligible for submission. The rule regarding AI is meant to prevent clearly AI-created content and images — not to prevent the use of writing and editing tools. This is part of the criteria for judging supplied to judges.

As part of the 2025 contest, Texas Press members also have the opportunity to enter the Center for Integrity in News Reporting $5,000 Integrity in Journalism Award.

Writers are encouraged to enter a single article or a series of articles. The CFINR contest is be a separate category on the TexasBNC contest website. Contest information and rules are now available on the Texas Better Newspaper Contest website.

The cash award will be presented by CFINR officials during the Texas Press Association Convention and Trade Show June 18-20 in Dallas.

Members of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association will be judging the TPA contest this year.
