Association will install new officers, directors during annual TPA Convention & Trade Show

Members are gearing up for the annual Texas Press Association Convention and Trade Show later this month, where in addition to industry sessions, awards and networking opportunities, new officers and board members will be elected and installed to reorganize for 2022-23.
Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel, Convention Center and Spa is headquarters for the July 28-30 event.
The Robert Burns Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at The Bandit Golf Club near New Braunfels. On Friday evening, TPA will sponsor an outing to the Roughhouse Brewery in San Marcos, including food, tours, music and beverages.
The Trade Show will feature booths by vendors ranging from photo equipment and publishing software to printing services and content providers. eType Services is sponsor of the Trade Show, which opens Thursday evening with a reception. 
Other convention sponsors include Explore Branson, Kid Scoop, Metro Creative Service, Modulist, Lumen and 4 Media.
Housed with the trade show is the annual Silent Auction benefiting the Texas Newspaper Foundation and supporting Texas Center for Community Journalism. The auction features a variety of items, many produced in the local areas served by the donating newspapers, including food specialties and wines, agricultural products, home decor items, vintage collectibles and books, t-shirts and other clothing, jewelry and accessories. Members may bring donated items  with them to the convention.
The Texas Newspaper Foundation will induct four into the Texas Newspaper Hall of Fame on Friday with Mike Blinder as keynote speaker. 
Speakers for sessions scheduled Friday and Saturday include Dean Ridings, CEO, America’s Newspapers; Tom Silvestri, executive director, The Relevance Project; Robert Moore, El Paso Matters; John Starkey, Rambler Newspapers; Don Richards, Richards, Elder & Gibson, PLLC; Mark Henry, Moser Community Media; Kathleen McElroy, UT Moody College of Communication; Leonard Woolsey, The Daily News, Galveston; and Craig Garnett, Uvalde Leader-News.
The general membership meeting for reports and election of officers is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
TPA will honor a member with the Frank W. Mayborn Award for Community Leadership, recognize Golden 50 Award winners, present the Fred Hartman Award for Excellence in Sports Writing and announce the winners in the 2020-21 Texas Better Newspaper Contest in activities on Friday and Saturday.
