2021 TPA Convention & Trade Show set

Texas Press Association’s 2021 Convention and Trade Show Jan. 21-23 will be an in-person event celebrating the resilience of Texas newspapers as the economy continues to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Embassy Suites by Hilton Denton Convention Center is headquarters for the event. TPA Executive Director Mike Hodges is working with the convention center staff to ensure that health and safety protocols in place at that time will be observed.
Registration materials (CLICK HERE) are available now on the TPA website and vendors are being recruited for the trade show.
The registration fee for the three-day event is $275 for all members. Due to increasing expenses, free convention registration can no longer be extended to ad network participants.
However, the TPA board voted to continue providing one free two-night hotel stay to ad network participating newspapers.
Full registration includes the trade show, Hall of Fame luncheon, contest awards brunch, all meals, sessions and hospitality events. Single-event registration of $75 per person per event is available for the Hall of Fame luncheon on Friday and the awards brunch on Saturday. Deadline for registration and hotel reservations is Jan. 6.
Activities open Thursday evening, Jan. 21, with the trade show reception, sponsored by eType Services, when convention attendees will also have a first look at the many items in the annual silent auction benefiting the Texas Center for Community Journalism, now at Tarleton State University.
The trade show and silent auction will be open again Friday morning, Jan. 22. until shortly before noon, when winners in the silent auction will be announced.
At the noon luncheon Friday, the 2021 Hall of Fame honorees will be inducted in ceremonies conducted by the Texas Newspaper Foundation.
Sessions Friday afternoon and Saturday morning will focus on innovative ideas and strategies for success in the post COVID-19 sales environment. Also on Saturday morning, the TPA membership will meet in general session to elect officers and directors.
The concluding event is the awards brunch Saturday, Jan. 23, when new officers will be installed, recipients of the Mayborn Award for Community Leadership, the Fred Hartman Award for Excellence in Sports Writing and the Golden 50 honorees will be announced and awards will be presented in the 2019-20 Texas Better Newspaper Contest.
