Robert L. Baldridge, 48th president, was born Feb. 6, 1880, near Nevada, Collin County. His life up to age 19 was spent on a farm. His education was obtained in Texas schools and colleges.

He purchased the Clifton Record, and for nearly a quarter of a century — 44 years — guided that paper. After his death his wife and son, Robert Jr., published it for 19 years.

Baldridge joined Texas Press Association in 1903. He served several years on the executive committee and was elected vice president in 1925.
