TPA volunteers needed to judge WVPA Better Newspaper Contest

TPA member volunteers are needed  to judge entries in the West Virginia Press Association contest.
The WVPA contest entry period is still under way with judging scheduled in May.
Annual contests are made possible with the help of other press associations across the country, which participate in a contest swap to judge one another’s competitions.
Judging contests is one of the best ways to see what makes a newspaper stand out and pick up ideas for your own publication.
Publishers, editors, designers, writers and advertising representatives could all benefit from the opportunity to see the best work WVPA members have to offer.
WVPA uses the ACES contest platform, familiar to members who have judged in other contests.
For more information, contact Candace Velvin, contest coordinator, at cvelvin@texaspress.com.
Entry period for the TPA contest has ended and volunteers from West Virginia newspapers are set to begin evaluating the entries April 4.
Plaques are awarded for first place winners in each of the 18 competition categories. In addition, certificates are awarded for first through fourth places in each category.
Awards will be presented as part of the annual TPA Convention & Trade Show July 28-30 at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel, Spa & Conference Center.
Convention registration information is available on the TPA website, texapress.com.
Registration is available for those who wish to attend just the awards brunch on Saturday, July 30.
