C.N. Ousley, Houston Post 1902-03

C.N. “Clarence” Ousley, 24th president, was born in Georgia in 1864 and came to Texas as a young man. He began life as an educator and taught at Waxahachie several years before entering newspaper work.

He was an editorial writer for the Dallas News and Houston Post.

For several years he owned and edited the Galveston Evening Tribune, losing his plant and home in the great storm of 1900. In 1903 he, and others, established the Fort Worth Record and he was president and editor and chief for several years.

He married Mary Young in 1889. They had two daughters.

During the administration of Woodrow Wilson, Ousley was associated with the National Agricultural Department and worked for the betterment of agriculture his entire life.
