Lafayette Lumpkin Foster, 1886-87
Lafayette Lumpkin Foster was the seventh president. He established the Groesbeck New Era and operated it for several years. He retired from the newspaper business about 1890 and entered public life. He served two terms as commissioner of insurance and statistics. At the time of his death in 1901, he was president of Texas A&M College.
