J.H. Davis, Mount Vernon Herald, 1885-86

Judge J.H. “Cyclone” Davis was the sixth man to serve as president in 1886, filling out the unexpired term of T.J. Girardeau. Davis joined the association in 1882.

His newspaper work covered a period of several years at the Mount Vernon Herald and Sulphur Springs. He served one term as a congressman. Much of his life was spent advocating prohibition.

Judge Davis lived out his life on his farm near Sulphur Springs.
