Publishers turned authors

Two Texas newspapermen have recently published books dealing with their experiences in the newspaper industry.

Mike Probst has been the editor and publisher of The Rockport Pilot newspaper since 1984. He has been involved in community newspaper publishing during his 33-year career, all associated with the Hartman family of newspapers. With his book, “30 Years Through the News/Lens,” he captures the highlights of 30 years at the helm.

Former owner, editor, and publisher of The Waco Citizen and The Suburban Courier, Bill Foster has close to 70 years experience publishing newspapers. He received his 50-year award from the Texas Press Association in 1993. Foster’s book, “Press Pass Gets You in the Door,” chronicles his time and participation in Waco as a newspaper publisher.
