Promotions, new hires and other staff changes at Texas newspapers.

Katecey Harrell, Tyler Morning Telegraph

TYLER - Katecey Harrell has joined the Tyler Morning Telegraph staff as a multimedia reporter, covering nonlocal government and breaking news.

She also works with the Morning Telegraph’ sister publications, ETX View Magazine and the Longview News-Journal.

The appointment was announced by Managing Editor Santana Gallacher.

Harrell came to Tyler from The Media News and Groesbeck Journal, where she covered commissioners court, city council and community events.

She is a 2021 graduate of UT-Arlington with a degree in journalism and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. She worked as a reporter and editor for The Shorthorn, UTA’s student newspaper.

“My goal is to provide a medium for the community to express their concerns, priorities and perspectives while holding elected officials accountable,” Harrell said.

Madison Telschow, The Wimberley View

After serving as interim editor since November 2022, Madison (Madi) Telschow has been named editor of The Wimberley View.

Telschow first joined the View’s sister newspaper, the Dripping Springs Century News, in August 2021 as a reporter and was promoted to editor of The Century News in August 2022.

In her new position, she will continue as editor of both publications, which are managed by San Marcos Publishing. LP. The appointment was announced by Dalton Sweat, publisher of the San Marcos Daily Record as well as the View and The Century News.

Telschow came to Hays County from Texas A&M University in College Station, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English with minors in communication and journalism while completing her degree, she also worked as an editorial assistant for Inside Brazos Valley Magazine and as a freelance writer for The Battalion.
