Roy A. Autry Jr.

Roy A. Autry, Jr., 85, died Sept.13, 2006, at his Coleman residence.

He was the co-publisher of the Coleman Chronicle and Democrat-Voice with his brother, Milton Autry, for 34 years.

Their father, R.A. Autry, published the Blanket Signal from 1918-23, and the Cross Plains Review from 1923-28. The family began publishing the Coleman newspaper in 1933.

In 1951, the Coleman Democrat-Voice was purchased and later merged with the Chronicle into the semiweekly Chronicle & Democrat-Voice.

James F. Chambers Jr.

James F. Chambers Jr., 93, died Sept. 21, 2006 at his home in Dallas.

Chambers was a former publisher and chairman of the Dallas Times Herald. He began his career at the Dallas Dispatch and became executive news editor of the Times Herald in 1944 and worked his way up to president in 1960.

Freddie Sills

Freddie Lorraine Sills, 94, died Sept. 14, 2006, in the Hamilton General Hospital. She was the editor for the Lamkin News in the Hamilton Herald for many years.

Wilma Sonntag

Wilma Marie Sonntag, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Yoakum Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident for several years.

She was a longtime employee of the Shiner Gazette with a career spanning more than three decades. She began working at the newspaper Sept. 9, 1963. She retired June 15, 1996. She worked in various capaci

ties including receptionist, copy editor and proof reader but her official title was family/social editor.

Susan Wisk

Susan Elizabeth Geary Wisk, 56, died Sept. 4, 2006, of an apparent stroke at her Highland Park home.

She worked as a clerk for The Dallas Morning News Metropolitan section and pestered the amusements editor for a chance at her beat of choice, which she got in summer 1976.

She left a year later to get married and left journalism.
