U.S. Navy keeps America safe

Naval aviation is changing and it is important for the public to see the changes so taxpayers can realize that the military is maximizing resources to get the best service with the least cost, Rear Admiral James B. Godwin III said June 18 at the 125th Summer Convention in Austin.

The Navy has three measures in place to defend America — sea strikes are the ability to project offensive power; sea shields are defensive efforts; and sea basing is the ability to set up mobile units to get into a battle.

“It’s really something else to see where technology is going and what’s happening out there to try to keep the young men and women off the battlefield as much as possible,” Godwin said.

“Readiness is better than we’ve ever seen it. Carriers are in better shape then we’ve ever seen them.”
