Mobile Lab trains 282 in '06

The TPAMobile trained 282 people in 2006 at 16 locations across the state.

The on-demand lab continues to be one of TPA’s most popular member services.

This year’s attendance was down from 2005 when 346 people attended, but the average attendance was higher at 9.4 people per class in 2006.

The Mobile Lab features hands-on training in the latest newspaper workflow and software, and best of all it’s free to members who guarantee attendance by at least three member newspapers.

The host newspaper also must provide the space for the lab — a room large enough for 12 laptop workstations and the instructor’s station and screen and projector.

The Mobile Lab curriculum includes MacOS X, QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop, Pagemaker, InDesign w/ InCopy, Acrobat, and GoLive.

The lab has seven MacOS Powerbooks and five Dell PC laptops.

Instructor Fred Anders has begun taking dates for 2007. To maximize training and travel time newspapers are encouraged to schedule consecutive training days with different topics.
