Russell Bronson

Russell Bronson, 49, died March 23, 2002 in Titusville, Fla. He spent 14 years on the photo desk at The Dallas Morning News and began his career at Florida Today and worked for two other Florida newspapers before moving to Texas. He also had photos published in Time, Sports Illustrated and National Geographic.

Jeanne Howe Kritser

Jeane Howe Kritser, 84, died March 23, 2002. She was the granddaughter of Ed Howe, a newspaper publisher and author. Her father, Gene Howe, established the Amarillo Globe, forerunner of the Amarillo Globe-News.

She was married to Shelby Masterson Kritser, who was vice president and general manager of the Globe News Publishing Co. and founder of Tradewind Airport.

Charles Odell

Charles Marlyn Odell, 75, died in his sleep March 5, 2002 at his Mesquite home. He worked in advertising sales at The Dallas Morning News from 1980-89 and was a World War II veteran.

Runelle Pender

Fay Runelle Baker Pender, 82, died March 11, 2002, in Clovis, Calif.

She joined the Williamson County Sun in Georgetown in 1964 as a reporter and later became news editor until leaving in 1975. She became director of publicity and quarterly magazine editor for University of Mary Hardin-Baylor until 1987.

James Stephenson

James Henry “Jim” Stephenson, 88, died March 15, 2002 at his Richardson home. He was a reporter for the San Antonio Light, The Richardson Echo and Fort Worth Star-Telegram before a 35-year career at The Dallas Morning News where he was city editor, business editor and real estate editor. He retired in 1976.
