Make reservations now to attend Convention & Trade Show

TPA members and their families have great opportunities for extended summer fun during the TPA Convention & Trade Show June 1-3 at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Round Rock.

The special hotel rate for the TPA convention includes access to the huge Kalahari entertainment complex, including two water parks and an arcade/adventure park.

The 350-acre resort complex also has a wide selection of shopping venues and more than 15 restaurants, ranging from coffee shops to formal dining and a steakhouse. Live music and entertainment are regularly featured in several of the food and beverage businesses in the complex.

There’s also a fitness center and a luxury spa. The resort has 975 guest rooms and a large convention center.

“This is an opportunity to experience a truly unique property at a fraction of the cost that most people pay,” said TPA Executive Director Mike Hodges.

“Plus, we have a solid program with the largest trade show that we’ve had in years. However, our meeting is earlier than normal which means the room reservation deadline is just a couple of weeks away. Make your decision and register now.”

May 15 is the deadline to reserve a room. Details and registration forms are available online at www.texaspress.com.

The Kalahari Round Rock facility opened in November 2020. Earlier this year, expansions to the indoor and outdoor water park facilities were completed. Kalahari Round Rock now has the country’s largest indoor water park, featuring 30 waterslides, 20 pools and whirlpools. There are also three acres of outdoor pools.

The indoor waterpark is open daily, year-round, and the outdoor pools are open seasonally. The outdoor waterpark has a large selection of slides and attractions, including a wave pool, lazy river, Flowrider, and water activity pool.

Tom Foolerys Adventure Park is an indoor theme park offering rides, zip lines, climbing walls, mini-golf, bowling and laser tag. The indoor park also has a large collection of arcade and redemption games.

The African-themed Kalahari Resort parks across the country are owned and operated by the Nelson family, who travel throughout Africa for the African sourced artwork, custom-crafted decor items and and other furnishings. Kalahari Resorts invested more than $5.5 million to support local artists through the purchase of African art, textiles and other items showcased throughout the resorts

In 2019, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions worked with Ithateng Mokgoro of Gamatong Foundation to sponsor a design competition and exhibition with a call for African artists and designers. Winning designs are featured in the resorts.

Kalahari Resorts also supports educational initiatives and works with international organizations providing education, economic development and cultural exchange opportunities for Africa’s youth. Each resort hosts recent college graduates for a year-long work and cultural exchange program. In addition, the company is a supporter of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, a specialized pediatric facility that provides surgeries and critical care to the children of South Africa.

Kicking off with the annual Robert Burns Memorial Golf Classic, the TPA Convention and Trade Show June 1-3 in Round Rock includes a trade show featuring top vendors showing off their products and services, informative general sessions, networking opportunities, a hospitality event with live entertainment, and awards ceremonies honoring the best in the Texas newspaper industry.
