1st The Beaumont Enterprise - "Loss of a Lifetime" A very moving series on one of life's tragedies. The series contained in-depth reporting and was well thought out. A truly outstanding piece!
2nd The Galveston County Daily News - "Galveston County Independent School District" The writers of this series should be heartily congratulated on the excellence of this in-depth reporting.
3rd Midland Reporter-Telegram - "The Face of Sexual Abuse" It took a tremendous amount of courage to bring this series of stories to the attention of the readers of the Midland Reporter. Excellent coverage!
4th The Baytown Sun - "The Shelter" It's refreshing to see a "home-town" newspaper champion a cause such as this series on a shelter for the homeless. Great job!
Semiweekly Division
1st Beeville Bee-Picayune - "Perry Brothers Building" Outstanding determination to investigate a story with all the drama of a Hollywood movie. Twists and turns haven't led the Beeville Bee-Picayune off the trail to this story. After reading the exhaustive efforts and evidence I'm left hungry to know where this story will end. Great job of journalism, dedication and investigation. Keep it up.
2nd The Wimberley View - "Saving Blue Hole" This story is doubtless repeated throughout America every year. Only through the determination and efforts of the community leadership and Wimberley View's promotion and coverage was this story left with a happy ending. Congratulations at preserving a local treasure.
3rd Polk County Enterprise - "Relay for Life" Congratulations for helping support such a worthy cause through many efforts during the year. Involving the community to support this cause is a great contribution from the Polk County Enterprise.

3rd The Community News, Aledo - "Building Bearcat Park" A community park project is common place but the News' support sure helped "Bear Cat Park" come to reality.
4th The Normangee Star - "Normangee Panthers" The Star's support both with cash and coverage placed this entry amongst the winners.
