Daily Division

1. The Galveston County Daily News, Galveston — “Breast cancer” This is outstanding! You have done well in presentation.

2. Laredo Morning Times — “Colonias” A great innovation for a newspaper. It was interesting the way your presented it and effective. Thanks for a great effort on your part.

3. The Paris News — “Youth Crime in Lamar County” Your publications would be a great guide for all newspapers to follow. There’s not a place in the U.S. which couldn’t use your presentation as a guide.

4. New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung — “October Flood” you serve the newspaper industry well with this presentation. There are times when people really need the newspaper instead of TV or radio. You found that time.

Semiweekly Division

1. The Highlander, Marble Falls — “VFW” This is excellent. The paper did a great job of covering this. Nice work from all angles. Great shots, especially of the “wall” shots. They should be entered in the photo category.

2. Quanah Tribune-Chief — “Senior citizen center” This show that when newspapers care, they can help make a difference. Good job.

3. Polk County Enterprise, Livingston — “American Red Cross” Good job of staying on the public to help the Red Cross.

4. The Citizens Gazette, Burnet — “The Great Pizza Debate” Good idea, but needed more editorial support. How about graphs.
