Charlie Pat DuBose Charlie Pat DuBose, 74, died Feb. 2, 2007, in his home. Pat and Kitty DuBose worked side by side at the Devine News for most of their 45 years of marriage. DuBose was the third generation publisher/editor of the News, which started in 1897, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, William Lafayette DuBose, and his father Charlie Paine DuBose. The family tradition included brothers W.L. and Wade DuBose, and uncle Matt DuBose as well as many other family members over the 109 years. The News is now in its fourth generation under the direction of daughter Kathleen Calame. His career began with the News when he was a young boy and continued at the San Marcos Record, in the U.S. Navy and The Beaumont Enterprise before returning home to the News. Bart L. Ivey Bart L. Ivey, 80, died March 6, 2007, in the Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility in Clifton after an extended illness. A former co-publisher of The Clifton Record, he got his first printing job as a child, working for publisher Ward Lowe of the Lampasas Dispatch Record. Ivey published The Record with two partners from 1966 to 1973. He later operated a stationery business and print shop. David Ivory David Ivory, 62, died March 9, 2007, after apparently suffering a heart attack while playing golf at a Fort Worth course. Ivory was a Fort Worth Star-Telegram vice president and former Fort Worth city manager. He came to the Star-Telegram in December 1994. He served on the paper’s editorial board and was a close adviser to Wes Turner, current publisher. Mary Lynch Mary Louise Lynch, 79, died March 1, 2007. She was editor and publisher of the Hudspeth County Herald for about 40 years and spent much of that time fighting the state of Texas’ efforts to put a nuclear waste facility near Dell City. She worked vigorously for the preservation of the region ’s water resources and pristine natural environment. Janice Morgan Janice Darlene Morgan, 59, died March 23, 2007, at her home in Austin after a battle with breast cancer. Morgan worked for Texas Press Association as the statewide advertising network coordinator. She joined TPA on June 7, 2001, as TexSCAN and Texas 2x2 coordinator and resigned in July 2003 to relocate to New Mexico. She rejoined TPA on April 20, 2005, and was the network coordinator until her death. She first came to TPA from display advertising sales at the Temple Daily Telegram. Morgan also worked at the Marble Falls Highlander and at the Wise County Messenger as an advertising sales representative.
