The Robert Burns Classic, the 14th annual golf tournament benefiting the Texas Newspaper Foundation, will be held June 21 in San Antonio at The Resort Course at La Cantera, host resort for the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open from 1995 to 2009.
This year every player will have a chance to win, regardless of skill level. The competition will use the Callaway handicap system, which allows a one-time handicap to be determined and applied to each player's net score. Plus, for the A-Players in the group, prizes for low gross scores will be awarded.
The Resort Course is a 7,001-yard par-72 course featuring: five sets of tees on each hole to accomodate every player's skill level; six holes with breathtaking views of San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and the scenic Texas Hill Country. The course also has many natural water features including swift-running streams, magnificent live oak trees, limestone rock outcroppings and 75 dramatic, white sand bunkers.
Rating/Slope: BLACK (72.5/134); GOLD (69.6/127); SILVER (68.2/119); COPPER (66.1/113); JADE (67.1/108)
The cost to play will be $100 per player and will include: green fee, cart, practice balls, tees, bag tag, divot repair tool and lunch. Club rental is available at the course.
