Winners named in scholastic journalism contest

Six winners were named Jan. 7 in the 9th annual Lone Star Journalism Writing Contest sponsored by the Texas Press Association and the Interscholastic League Press Conference.

In the Small School category, the $125 first place award went to Chase Wade, Crandall High School, for a story published in the Terrell Tribune; 2nd place and $100 went to Kelsey Palmer, Rusk High School, published in the Jacksonville Daily Progress; 3rd place and $75 went to Danielle Goodwin, Rusk High School, published in the Rusk Cherokeean Herald.

In the Big School category, the $125 first place award went to Holly Heinrich of Westlake High School for her article published in the Westlake Picayune; the $100 second place award went to Elisabeth Dillon, Allen High School, published in The Dallas Morning News; the $75 third place award went to Shastan McNaspy, Klein Middle School, published in the 1960 Klein Sun.
